What to Expect
Treatments begin with a thorough intake interview about all aspects of your health condition. Your practitioner will feel your pulse and look at your tongue. If receiving acupuncture, appropriate acupuncture points will be chosen to treat your condition. Common point locations are generally below the elbows and knees or on the back. The points are then swabbed with alcohol. You will be on a massage table while the needles are inserted and retained for about 20-30 minutes. The total appointment time is about 60 to 90 minutes for a first-time patient. If receiving herbal consultation, a customized formula will be written and prepared for you. Herbal consultations generally take a total of 30 minutes.
